Three Snow Paintings
...while I await the next snowstorm!
It’s been a very, very dry winter here in New Mexico, but snow from the storm we had a few weeks ago persists in the canyon behind my studio. The canyon snakes very roughly east-west, so the south wall—where my hiking trail is—maintains a decent snowpack. I went out a few times to sketch the snow while it lasts. Now, this weekend, another storm is predicted, and hopefully that will freshen things up so I can paint some more.
In the meantime, here are three of the 8x10 plein air sketches I made of my canyon snow. Over the next few weeks, I’ll talk more about snow painting and maybe include a demonstration or two. Enjoy!

I particularly like the rock pile
Love seeing the 3 snow paintings as a series together.
